2023年4月28日，华中科技大学同济医学院基础医学院病理生理学系刘恭平教授课题组在《Brain, Behavior, and Immunity》上发表了题为“BGP-15 alleviates LPS-induced depression-like behavior by promoting mitophagy”的文章，该研究通过使用脂多糖（LPS）诱导的MDD动物模型发现，LPS处理诱导了小鼠抑郁样行为，并通过降低小鼠脑中PINK1/Parkin的线粒体水平引起了线粒体自噬缺陷。LPS处理激活了NLRP3炎症小体，显著增加了促炎细胞因子（TNFα、IL-1β和IL-6）的水平，并通过JNK-P38途径诱导神经元凋亡。BGP-15治疗显著减轻了LPS的影响，表现为改善了抑郁样行为和线粒体自噬，拯救了神经元损伤和炎症，并抑制了ROS介导的NLRP3炎症小体激活。此外，通过使用自噬抑制剂3-MA或线粒体自噬抑制剂Mdivi-1，确定了线粒体自噬在BGP-15减轻抑郁样行为中的作用。本研究得出结论，BGP-15在LPS诱导的抑郁症中的抗抑郁作用可能是通过线粒体自噬途径介导的，为MDD提供了潜在的新型治疗策略。
