125g butter, softened 1 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup chopped glacé cherries
5 tablespoons golden syrup 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup standard plain flour 1/4 cup chopped mixed peel
ICING
150g cooking chocolate
Cream butter and sugar, and beat in syrup. Sift in flour. Add almonds, cherries, walnuts,peel and mix. Place tablespoonful of mixture onto baking-paper- lined trays, spacing them very well apart to allow for spreading. Cook no more than four at a time. Press each one out as flat and round as possible, using a knife. Bake in the oven at 180c for 10minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and leave on tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. When cold ice with chocolate on the flat side of biscuit.

1/4 teaspoon salt 75g butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar 1 cup mashed banana
Sift flour, baking soda and salt into a bowl. Mix in sugar. In another bowl beat eggs. Stir in milk, butter and banana. Mix quickly into dry ingredients, stirring until ingredients are just combined. Spoon into a greased and lined 22cm loaf tin. Bake at 180c for 45 to 55 minutes. Leave in tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack.
