QUATRAIN - GRASS
Tang Dy. BAI Juyi
Tr. CUI Chuanming
On the grassland flourising grasses grow,
Whereas o'er four seasons they rise and fall.
As long as wild fires could not burn them all,
They rise thriving again as spring gales blow.

QUATRAIN - ODE TO WILLOWS
Tang Dy. HE Zhizhang
Tr. CUI Chuanming
A jade-like green dresses up all of the willows;
Down ripple a thousand and one tender sallows.
Whosever nimble hands trim them over so fine?
'Tis scissor-like spring gale, not hands of thine or mine.

DECASTICH - DRINKING WINE
Jin Dy.TAO Yuanming
Tr. CUI Chuanming
Tho' my house stands where a busy street lies,
I'm ne'er vex'd by the noisy wights and rides.
Thou mayst ask me how I abide this way,
A big heart helps keep earhly cares at bay.
Picking daisies beneath the fence eastern,
I ken leisurely the mountain southern.
At dusk the mountain shows a better sight,
And birds in company return in flight.
Whilst the meaning of life therein is found,
I attempt to tell but my tongue seems bound.
