The 47th Pulitzer Prize for Drama (awarded in 1976) went to "A Chorus Line" by Michael Bennett, James Kirkwood, Jr., Marvin Hamlisch, Nicholas Dante and Edward Kleban. The musical opened at the Shubert Theatre on July 25, 1975.
The opening night cast featured Donna McKechnie, Robert LuPone, Carole (Kelly) Bishop, Priscilla Lopez, Pamela Blair, Sammy Williams, Renee Baughman, Baayork Lee, Wayne Cilento, Patricia Garland, Ronald Dennis, Nancy Lane, Ron Kuhlman, Cameron Mason, Kay Cole, Michel Stuart, Thomas J. Walsh, Don Percassi, and Clive Clerk.
