【港媒:曾荫权案终极上诉结果公布 撤销定罪及判刑】Former Hong Kong leader Donald Tsang Yam-kuen has been cleared of criminal misconduct by the city’s top court, marking an end to his long legal battle punctuated with health problems.
The Court of Final Appeal yesterday ruled unanimously in favor of the former chief executive, who was once the highest-ranking official to be jailed in the city, after finding that the trial judge had failed to direct his jurors properly.
The verdict was delivered without Tsang. But Tsang said in a recorded message he was excited and expressed his relief in a statement.
Tsang had been sentenced to 18 months in jail, later reduced to one year, for failing to disclose conflict of interest involving a mainland businessman. He was released from jail in January this year.
