Silicate glasses exhibit very attractive properties and have great use in optics/optical telecommunications, structural mechanics, medical, nuclear technology, superconductors and in microfluidics, and so on. In this paper, the researchers report temperature dependent linear optical and physical properties of silicate glasses (silica, soda lime, borosilicate 7059). They use two optical techniques: ellipsometry at a wavelength, λ of 632.8 nm and Abbe’s refractometer at λ of 589.3 nm, to measure the optical and physical properties of silicate glasses over the temperature range from 295 to 473 K.
