Eugène Boudin
Pêcheurs en bord de mer
1891
36.3 x 58.6 cm
Huile sur toile
In 1888 Boudin painted in Le Havre and Deauville, and at the end of the year he went to Dieppe. As usual, he sent two paintings to the salon. In July, at Trouville, he made some paintings at low tide on the subject of Trouville's harbor docks, and his skill and spirit, like the water at high tide, reached its peak. Another larger painting of the dock shows a similar view, but the wind in the
background is softer, allowing for a different distribution of clouds and boats in the harbor. As a model of naturalistic landscape painting, Boudin placed himself in repetitive subjects and perspectives in order to better forget their previously inherent appearance, and in this way defined what the French art critic Duranty * called"almost all the changes of the sky are an internal, personal concept." This is a true portrayal of Boudin's creative ideas on the theme of the sea and its small port.

Kevin De Bruyne has told Manchester City’s rivals that Pep Guardiola’s side are up for the fight in the title race and warned: “We know what we need to do.”
“There are so many teams there,” De Bruyne told Standard Sport. “Liverpool and Arsenal are there with us, but I’d say even [Aston] Villa and Tottenham are close. We will be fighting with five for the moment. There’s a little pressure anyway to do well, but there’s no point looking at what’s going to happen in two months.
“We need to win games now and try to enjoy it. We know what we need to do. The pressure is always there, but we’re ready to fight again until the end.”
De Bruyne also warned he is getting better with every game following his return from injury.
The midfielder, who missed five months after suffering a hamstring injury on the opening weekend of the season, has now made back-to-back starts and said: “I’m happy because everything has been going so well. I came back and I feel good. Every game is getting better and better. Sometimes I still feel like I’m a little bit away, but I’m doing what I need to do, so I’m not really too worried about that. It’s just getting match fitness.
“Of all the games we’ve played against Brentford over the years, I think this was by far the best one. We deserved to win.”
