后现代的文学和翻译理论有一个毛病,就是给与读者解读的自由时,还有过分讨好的嫌疑,甚至到了奴颜婢膝的地步,结果读者往往具有蜜汁自信,常常怀疑作者不说人话,或者译者矫情做作,而读者自身愈加犯懒。且说胡亚敏在《叙事学》一书里谈到:
“反讽是一个值得充分开掘的领地。反讽中充满歧义的评论和叙述在给作品的意蕴带来丰富和含混的同时也对读者的能力提出了更高的要求,因此,反讽不仅是叙述者的一种态度,也需要阅读上的配合。”
关于这一点, Geoffrey Leech在Style in Fiction也有类似的著述:
“...to be truly creative, an artist must be destructive: destructive of rules, conventions, and expectations. But in this sense, creativity of the writer also requires creativity from the reader, who must fill in the gaps of sense with an associative logic of his own.”
简洁和晦涩是互为一对程度反义词,也就是说文本的文风在每一位读者眼里都是相对的,而每一位读者的阅读门槛也迥然相异。文无定法,所以文学领域里的作者和译者只消寻找自己理想的读者群就好。
